Construction of the Ózd McDonald’s Has Begun
After nearly a year of preparation, the realization of the McDonald’s restaurant in Ózd is finally taking shape. This morning, a press event was held, followed by construction machines taking over the site.
At the event, Égi Zsolt, the managing director of McDonald’s Hungary, emphasized the significance of bringing their services to the city.
“In 2019, we laid the foundations of a new strategy, which we are now implementing. This concept is built on two key pillars. One is the renovation of all existing restaurants under the ‘Experience of the Future’ concept, and the other is expanding into towns where we previously had no opportunity to establish a presence. After assessing the possibilities, we saw that Ózd is an excellent location and a great opportunity,” said Égi Zsolt, managing director of Progress Étteremhálózat Kft.
Ózd’s mayor, Janiczak Dávid, highlighted in his speech that the project is the result of a long process. While some had doubts, the construction is now officially beginning.
“We hope the restaurant will be completed as soon as possible. The managing director is optimistic that the opening could even happen this year, allowing the people of Ózd to finally enjoy this new addition—both as employees and as guests. Recruitment for positions at the restaurant will soon begin, with around 70 people expected to be employed here,”said the mayor.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic groundbreaking before officially handing over the site to the contractors. The construction is being carried out by a Dunaújváros-based company, whose workers have already started operations. The company places great emphasis on environmental protection, having been among the first to phase out single-use plastic items. Additionally, they are committed to implementing modern, eco-friendly solutions in the new complex.
Experts kindly ask for residents’ patience during the construction process.
